Dennis Haggard
Dennis
is an accomplished martial artist with a career spanning the military, emergency
services, and law enforcement. He began his formal martial arts training
in the mid 1980s, honing it here in the United States and abroad in Korea.
He holds black belts in Tae Kwon Do, and Kung Fu, and a second degree black
belt in To Shin Do. As an officer with the California Highway Patrol, Dennis
conducted training and certification in the areas of Physical Methods of
Arrest, and Force Options as well as training newly graduated officers in
his role as a Field Training Officer.
Dennis discovered CST while pursuing ways to enhance his martial arts conditioning.
His training was interrupted and truly put to the test when he was struck
by a big rig while conducting a traffic stop. While most of his injuries
healed quickly, Dennis suffered a break and severe soft tissue damage to
his right ankle. After undergoing surgery, he was non weight bearing for
three months followed by intensive physical therapy. In addition to the physical
therapy for his
injuries, Dennis used CST to increase his general fitness
without risking further injury to his ankle. As a result of his dedicated
practice using CST principals, Dennis is measurably stronger and more agile
today than he was before the accident. Although initially drawn to CST to
enhance his martial arts ability, Dennis was pleased to discover that the
benefits he gained from this method of training carried over to all areas
of his active lifestyle.
Throughout his career Dennis has kept a focus on physical fitness and resilience,
and Circular Strength Training® has become the front-and-center component
of his regimen.
